The first Anti-"Bro Country" Song is Coming Out July 15th…. YEP, you read that right!
A new duo named MADDIE & TAE is coming out with what's considered the first anti-"bro country" song.
It's called"Girl In A Country Song" and it references several hits, including Billy Currington's "Hey Girl" . . . Thomas Rhett's "Get Me Some of That" . . . Florida Georgia Line's "Get Your Shine On" . . . and Chris Young's "Aw Naw", to name a few.
–It's from the point of view of a girl who's ON a date in one of those songs . . . and she's feeling a bit objectified.
Here's a sample lyric . . . "All we're good for is looking good for you and your friends on the weekend, nothin' more. We used to get a little respect. Now we're lucky if we even get to climb up in your truck keep our mouth shut and ride along.
CARRIE UNDERWOOD is one of the performers at this year's Global Citizen Festival, which is going down September 27th in New York City.
Carrie says, quote, "Positive change is possible when we work together. This festival is a hopeful opportunity for all of us to help see an end to extreme poverty." Other performers include Jay Z, No Doubt, Tiesto and The Roots

LORETTA LYNN will be given a lifetime achievement award by the Americana Music Association at their 13th Annual Honors & Awards ceremony on September 17th in Nashville. Other honorees include Jackson Browne, blues / roots artist Taj Mahal, and Tejano musician Flaco Jimenez.
