My heart has been aching so much since I woke up on Saturday morning. Friday night I wasn't on social media or looking up news, as I was doing some interview stuff with Kevin Fowler before he hit the stage at Hurricane Harry's. So Saturday morning rolls around and my wife tells me the tragic news of Bryan Fire Department Lieutenant
Eric Wallace, who lost his life. Only hours later to find out that another, Lt. Greg Pickard, passed away. This was a very emotional time for my wife, as her dad was a firefighter for over 30 years in Beaumont. She told me that there were many mornings when he was late coming home that she feared the worst. My wife and I also have friends who were close to the Pickard family. Lt. Pickards wife is a teacher at the same school that our friends teach at.
The thin that I absolutely love about living in Aggieland is how much the community comes together in times like this. Facebook/Twitter profiles pictures honoring the fallen, prayers and well wishes going out to Firefighter Ricky Mantey Jr. and Probationary Firefighter Mitch Moran. I pray that Mantey & Moran have speed recoveries and are able to continue to do what they love to do.
