I don't believe there is any other band that has caused such a stir within the country music fan population than Florida Georgia Line. Obviously, they have a different type of music. It's what some folks like to call "bro country." Whatever the case may be, we as country music listeners need to be open to change.
I will proudly admit that I am the biggest Alabama, Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, George Strait, George Jones' fan as well as any other traditional country artists you can think of at the moment. But "change" is a word we as a people try to ignore and avoid because as human beings, we cannot stand the thought of change... it's just part of it.
However, "change" is something that takes place every single day since the beginning of time. For example, the fashion fad seems like it changes every second. From Chuck Taylor Converse's in the '70s to ostrich skin boots in the 2000s. Music is the same way we talk about change and fads.
For those that do not classify Florida Georgia Line as traditional country artists... I agree. However, country music has come a long way from its humble beginnings. Doesn't country music represent having a good time and heartbreak? Florida Georgia Line represents all of those things and then some... They are two country boys who just want to have a good time, and have also figured what the younger generation of listeners like to hear.
Now, I am not vouching for Floriday Georgia Line by any means. However, I do appreciate their music and how they are able to gain a HUGE following by just having FUN.
For those folks that do not believe FGL is country or do not agree with what they do, that is perfectly fine. That is strictly your opinion and you are totally entitled to it. However, I do encourage those folks as well as anyone else to watch the video of their new single, "Dirt."
It is about as traditional as it gets when it comes to country music. It also partners with a very powerful music video that actually puts YOU in the song... and in my opinion, that is what country music is all about... putting you in the song and actually feeling the lyrics and the music altogether.
And even if you don't enjoy, hey, there is always thousands of more country songs to choose from, right? lol
Thanks and gig'em!
