Five Tips to Keep You From Messing Up Your “Ice Bucket Challenge”

It's Bad to Pee in the Pool . . . But Good to Pee in the Ocean

It's VILE to pee in a swimming pool if you're over the age of two . . . in other words, if you're old enough to know better.  When your pee mixes with chlorine, it can actually cause respiratory problems for people swimming.
But when you're in the ocean?  Let it flow, baby.
The American Chemical Society says it's not just okay to pee in the ocean . . . it's actually GOOD.The ocean is so big that your pee is diluted instantly, so it can't affect anyone . . . and its chemical makeup is pretty similar to the chemical makeup of the salt water.
Plus, there's a compound called urea in your pee that combines with the water to make ammonium . . . which feeds the plants in the ocean.
And finally, if you pee in the ocean, you're not the only one.  Every animal in the ocean is already doing it . . . including whales, which pee out approximately 256 gallons every day.

Five Random Facts for Thursday

1.  More Americans died in the Civil War than any other war we've fought in . . . about 625,000 men, or around 2% of the population at the time.  Of course, it kinda makes sense that more Americans died in the Civil War . . . we were killing each other.
2.  The most popular beer in the world is a beer called Snow.  It's only sold in China, but people there put down almost three billion gallons of it last year.
3.  The Ice Bucket Challenge has used about five million gallons of water so far.  So is it a "waste of water"?  When there are millions around the world WITHOUT fresh water?  Not compared to THIS:  the average American household uses 320 gallons per DAY.

HURRY UP HEADLINES

An elderly woman in England fell and broke her arm in a corn maze on Tuesday, and paramedics knew they had to get to her quickly.  But they had to solve the MAZE to do it.  Somehow they got to the woman and carried her out without too many maze-related delays, and she was rushed to the hospital for treatment.

The days of walking home barefoot after taking off your heels are over.  Shoe vending machines are springing up outside nightclubs in Vegas . . . and soon they'll be in other cities too.  For $20 you get a pair of basic, flat shoes . . . plus a pouch to put your heels in.
An 18-year-old kid in Texas was hooking up with his girlfriend recently, when his MOM walked in.  So to clear the air, his mom baked a cake for the girlfriend that said, quote, "Sorry we caught you dry humping our son!"  And the kid posted a photo of it online.
A 21-year-old guy in England broke into a business back in April, and tried to use the flashlight app on his iPhone . . . but he accidentally activated the video camera, mistook the camera FLASH for the flashlight, and filmed the entire burglary.  Cops eventually found it, and he was just sentenced to two months in jail.

Remember last year when that 16-year-old in Texas killed four people driving drunk, but only got probation because his lawyers blamed it on "affluenza" . . . meaning he was too rich and spoiled to know right from wrong? Looks like his dad "suffers" from that very same, very legitimate, and serious condition.

The police in North Richland Hills, Texas got a call back on July 28th about two neighbors having an argument.  When they got there, one of the guys was Fred Couch . . . his son is Ethan Couch, the kid who got off thanks to affluenza.
Fred told the cops it was a misunderstanding and they could go.  He told them he's a reserve police officer . . . but he had left his, quote, "police stuff" in his car.  He even flashed his wallet at them, which looked like it had a badge inside, so they left. But one of the cops thought his badge looked suspicious, so he investigated Fred . . . and it turns out Fred is NOT a reserve police officer and never has been.
So now he's been arrested for false identification as a police officer.

Five Tips to Keep You From Messing Up Your "Ice Bucket Challenge"

1.  Don't have someone dump the water from a balcony. They'll end up dropping the whole BUCKET by mistake.  It's a miracle no one's been seriously injured yet.
2.  Don't do it somewhere slippery.  Outside on the grass is perfect.  In the shower or in the kitchen is NOT.
3.  Don't use too much water.  Remember, you have to be able to lift it over your head.  But also don't be the lame person who just dumps a GLASS of ice water on their head.
4.  Be upbeat about it.  In half of the videos you see, the people have ZERO energy.  But it makes for a much better video if you act EXCITED about doing it.
5.  Make it quick.  Don't spend two minutes talking.  People just skip through that part of the video anyway.  Unless you're doing something REALLY creative, you should be able to nominate people AND dump the water on yourself in about 20 seconds.
