A Guy Paid $25,000 So a Waiter Could Fix His Jacked Up Teeth

A lawyer from Oklahoma went to a restaurant in Kansas last month, and really liked his waiter.  He also noticed the guy's teeth were SERIOUSLY jacked up.  So instead of just leaving a tip, he offered to get his teeth fixed.  Now his smile is perfect . . . and it might have cost about 25 THOUSAND DOLLARS.

Brian Maixner is a waiter at the Doo-Dah Diner in Wichita, Kansas. Customers love him, because he has a great attitude.  But he's always been afraid to smile because of his TEETH.

He cracked one of his front teeth years ago, and couldn't afford to fix it.  And apparently he couldn't even afford a cleaning, because his grill is SERIOUSLY jacked up.

But last month, he waited on a lawyer from Oklahoma named Fred Boettcher, who was so impressed with him, he didn't just leave a good tip . . . he offered to have his teeth FIXED and pay for the WHOLE THING.

So Brian went to Fred's dentist multiple times over the past few weeks, and now his smile is PERFECT.

It's not clear if Fred worked out a deal with his dentist, and Brian's never seen a bill.  But at least one expert says all that work could have cost up to 25 THOUSAND DOLLARS.

Three Times Being a Hero Makes Things Worse

Here are three situations where you can try to be a hero but end up making things WORSE.  Don't pull someone from a car crash, because they might have a spinal injury . . . don't jump in to save someone who's drowning unless you've been trained, because they'll pull you under . . . and don't do the Heimlich unless a person's airway is completely blocked.

1.  Don't pull someone from a car crash.  If they have a spinal injury, they could end up paralyzed.

So unless the car's on fire, or they're in immediate danger, tell them to stay put until an ambulance gets there.

2.  If someone's drowning in deep water, don't jump in to save them unless you know what you're doing.  Chances are they'll panic, grab onto you, and pull YOU under.

So unless you're trained as a lifeguard, throw them a life preserver, or anything else that floats for them to grab onto.

3.  If someone' s choking and coughing, don't do the Heimlich OR smack them on the back.  Coughing means they're still getting air.  And if you do the Heimlich maneuver, you'll make them REALLY start choking.

So let them keep trying to cough up whatever they're choking on first.  Only do the Heimlich if their airway is completely blocked.
