George Jones, that hard-living country singer who recorded countless hits about good times and regrets has died at 81.

Jones' Publicist Kirt Webster says Jones died Friday Morning at The Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville after being hospitalized with fever and irregular blood pressure back on April 18th.

The Cause of death has not been relased, but more information will be released later today.

George Jones was idolized not just by fellow country singers, but by Frank Sinatra, Pete Townshend, Elvis Costello, James Taylor and countless others.

His career that lasted more than 50 years, and "Possum" recorded more than 150 albums. He became a champion and symbol of what traditional country music sounds like.
