How to Survive Daylight Saving Time

Ready to move your clocks forward this weekend? Unless you live in Hawaii, Arizona, or US territories in the Pacific and Caribbean, it’s time to lose an hour due to Daylight Saving Time, which begins Sunday, March 12, at 2:00 a.m.

According to sleep specialist Dr. Raj Dasgupta, planning for the time change can help reduce the impact on your body. Try these three things for yourself and any children in your household:

-Adjust the time you eat meals, exercise, and take medication to make these activities happen 15-20 minutes earlier than normal.

-Cut back on coffee and energy drinks, as well as alcohol.

-Go to bed 15-20 minutes earlier each night before the time change. Also, make your bed a place you want to sleep in.  Meaning, fresh clean sheets – without any phones or tablets.

Then get ready to be sleepy on Monday…but not quite as much!
